Why an applied doctoral pathway

DBA, MBA, or academic Doctoral Program — what's the difference?

The DBA is built for professionals who already have an MBA or Master's and want rigour beyond coursework — not more case studies, but original research that contributes to management knowledge while solving real organisational problems.

DBA — Applied research

Practice-driven, executive focus

From day one, DBA participants engage in research projects designed to address concrete organisational problems. The programme builds on prior managerial knowledge — it does not repeat MBA content. Studies are rigorous, original, and directly relevant to professional practice.

Doctoral Program — Theoretical research

Knowledge-driven, academic focus

PSE's Doctoral Programs emphasise original theoretical contribution across 5 specialisations. They are designed for researchers, scholars, and future academics — with a focus on advancing the discipline itself rather than solving operational business challenges.

DBA Frequently asked questions

Practical answers about the DBA experience

The questions our most ambitious candidates ask before applying — career compatibility, format details, supervision, and what happens after.

Can I keep working full-time while completing the DBA?
Yes — the DBA is specifically designed for working executives. The 3-year program runs part-time in hybrid format, with most coursework delivered online and a limited number of on-campus seminars throughout the year. Our cohort includes CEOs, partners, founders, and senior executives who continue their careers during the program. You should expect to dedicate roughly 10 to 15 hours per week to coursework, research, and writing — with peaks around milestone deliverables.
Where are the on-campus seminars held?
On-campus seminars are delivered in Paris at our administrative office (10 Avenue Kléber, 75116) and occasionally in partner locations in France or the USA. Most workshops are also available online, allowing international candidates to attend from anywhere. Travel, visa, accommodation and living costs are covered by participants.
What happens if I need more than 3 years to complete the DBA?
Many executive candidates require some flexibility due to professional commitments. Extension beyond 3 years is possible at €2,000 per additional year. Your thesis supervisor and the Academic Director will work with you to define a realistic timeline that protects both the rigour of your research and your professional balance.
How is thesis supervision organised?
Each DBA candidate is paired with a qualified thesis supervisor selected based on the topic of your research and your industry context. Supervision happens through regular video calls, written feedback on milestones, and in-person meetings during seminars. You also benefit from a multidisciplinary research committee that intervenes at key stages — particularly for the oral defence of Module 1 and the final dissertation defence.
Is the ISSN publication automatic, or do I need to apply separately?
The peer-reviewed ISSN publication in IJABER is part of the DBA curriculum — it is integrated into Module 2. Your dissertation work is structured to meet international publication standards, and the article submitted to IJABER undergoes a peer-review process by the editorial board. Once published, your work is indexed under your own name and citable permanently — making it a verifiable academic asset for your CV and professional profile.
Can my employer sponsor my DBA tuition?
Yes — employer sponsorship is one of the most common financing options. Many candidates align their DBA research with a strategic challenge faced by their organisation, making the program a direct investment in the company's future. The structured payment plan (€20,000 / €12,000 / €4,000) across the 3 years makes corporate budgeting easier. Our admissions team can provide a detailed proposal to share with your employer's HR or learning & development team.
Is the DBA recognised internationally?
The DBA is a doctoral-level institutional credential aligned with Level 8 of the European Qualifications Framework, the highest level in European education systems. It is issued by Paris School of Entrepreneurship as a registered French private institution of higher education (Rectorat de l'Académie de Paris · UAI 0756576R). PSE is also a registered Erasmus+ organisation (OID: E10422003). Your DBA, your ISSN-indexed publication, and your dissertation are all verifiable academic assets recognised internationally.
Are there scholarships available?
Yes. A limited number of merit-based scholarships of €5,000 are available, distributed across the 3 years of the program. Selection is based on the quality of your application, your motivation essay, the strategic potential of your research project, and the timing of your application — early applicants receive priority access. To apply, submit a one-page essay with your application documents.
